Principal Investigator
I obtained my PhD in 2017 and BSC in 2021 from the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. Following a period of postdocing at the University of Manchester, then back in Krakow, and then again in the UK at the University in Exeter, I ended up in Bristol in 2022 as a Sir Henry Wellcome Fellow. In 2023 I was appointed Lecturer and in 2025 promoted to Senior Lecturer in Neuroscience. My research interests revolve around circadian timekeeping mechanisms outside the primary clock in the hypothalamus. My most recent fellowship work focuses on the circadian rhythms in the brainstem satiety centre, time-restricted eating, and circadian strategies to tackle obesity. Outside of the lab, I enjoy cooking, eating, running — and repeating!

PhD Student
Emily is a PhD student interested in the daily rhythms in pain and the role of circadian rhythms in nociceptive processing. She obtained her MPhil in Biological Sciences from the University of Cambridge in 2024, where she investigated how neurotransmitters involved in sleep/wake regulation affect neuronal populations regulating reproductive processes. Outside of the lab, she enjoys reading, running and musical theatre.

MRes (Master's by Research) Student
Sama is currently pursuing a Master’s by Research. Her project focuses on how astrocytes contribute to circadian rhythm generation in the brainstem and the implications for satiety regulation. A lifelong Bristolian, she also completed their BSc in Neuroscience at the University of Bristol. Outside of the lab, Sama enjoys exploring green spaces, photography, and discovering new cafés and baked goods across the city.
